(My apologies but I'm too tired to read the entire post and I'm basically typing this with my face.)
From what I gather, this might be less of a "people are shit"-scenario and more of a "Twitter/"X" is shit"-situation.
I'm not the biggest fan of Blueskye, but I imagine that, ever since the mass-exodus of Twitter people to Blueskye, that the crowd on Twitter got _even_worse_ - if that's even possible.
My advice: Stop using Twitter and check out Bluesky or Mastodon. ( https://mastodon.social/about )
Both are less popular than Twitter/"X"/"Xwitter". Reportedly Mastodon is pretty good for getting in touch with other artists - Bluesky might be as well by now.
And... _Neither_of_them_ is run by a crazy-person.
On that note: Do not allow crazy-people to drive you crazy as well.
